Rare 1981 U2 clips featuring a very young Bono, and his Dub accent
SEVERAL VINTAGE CLIPS of a very young U2 performing in San Francisco in 1981 are among thousands of rare videos uploaded to YouTube.
The Music Vault archive is adding more than 12,000 videos to its YouTube channel.
Most of a concert played by Bono and co in California Hall in San Francisco in May 1981 has been uploaded in separate clips.
The clips show the band playing on when the lights in the venue fail:
A bit of banter with a distinctly ‘Dub’ Bono before a performance of When I Fall Down:
And some footage of Bono playing bartender:
The whole of the concert has also been uploaded in one 69 minute film, providing an interesting glimpse of the band on the cusp of stardom:
The full setlist for the night appears on U2Gigs.com.
There’s also a full Van Morrison concert recorded in San Francisco in 1974:
Thousands of other videos from the likes of The Rolling Stones, REM and Pearl Jam are also available on the channel.
Happy listening!
