UK scientists baffled by head shop products
TOXICOLOGISTS in London have admitted they’re totally flummoxed by the real contents of drugs available in head shops.
A study commissioned by the BBC using drugs bought online – one of which is likely to be the next popular drug after several similar substances were banned – found a mystery compound the scientists could not identify.
The soon-to-be-popular MDAI is the drug with the mystery contents.
Dr John Ramsay told the BBC that taking the chemicals would therefore “have completely unknown consequences”.
MDAI is intended to be a legal alternative to mephedrone, which was banned in both Ireland and the UK earlier this year.
The news adds creedance to the Irish government’s move to completely outlaw head shops as part of the Psychoactive Substances Bill, which was signed into law by President McAleese last week.
