Undies worn by Elvis Presley to be sold at auction
A PAIR OF The King’s underpants are to go on sale at an auction next month.
Expecting to fetch £10,000, the BBC reports that the underwear was worn underneath one of the singer’s jumpsuits at a performance in 1977 – and they have not been washed since.
The light blue briefs, which will be auctioned in Stockport next month, were obtained from the estate of Vernon Presley, Elvis’ father.
Home movies of the Presley family on holidays are also on sale reports the BBC.
Omega Auctions is holding the Elvis Memorabilia auction to “to commemorate the 35th year of his passing”.
The auction house also has lots of other – not so gross items – that are linked to the star.
A bible given to Presley in 1957 is estimated at £20,000 – £25,000. The bible is accompanied by a letter of authenticity hand signed from Vester Presley (Vernon Presley’s brother) who says that Elvis was given it while he spent his first Christmas in Graceland.
The bible contains Elvis’ personal annotations and notes throughout its pages.
Other Elvis items to go under the hammer include a 14-carat gold pendant chain, estimated at £4,000 – £6,000.
The necklace was owned and worn by Elvis Presley but he later gifted the necklace to a close friend in 1975.
The full catalogue and auction will be streamed live from the auction room in Stockport via http://www.omegaauctions.co.uk on September 8.
