Unexpected Tweet of the Day: Yoko Ono and Daniel O'Connell
ON THE FACE of it, they may not seem to have that much in common.
He helped introduce Catholic emancipation to Ireland; she’s an artist most famous for her bed-ins for peace and her music.
And yet, it seems that Yoko Ono is impressed by the work of Daniel O’Connell. This evening Ono, who is in Dublin to receive a lifetime achievement award for her contribution to arts and campaigning, tweeted a photo of herself in his crypt in Glasnevin with a message about how his life was inspiring to many around the world.
The tweet, which was slightly cut off by Twitter’s 140-character limit, read in full:
“I am praying for the soul of Daniel O’Connell. May he rest in peace. May his life history be told to us all and add to our energy of activism”.
Aw.
And here she is in O’Connell’s crypt in Glasnevin cemetery:
