DO YOU EVER see a garment so obviously unflattering that you wonder who on Earth would purchase it or how a shop could have the temerity to try flog it in the first place?
Last week, writer Doree Shafrir stumbled upon this dress (read: sack) from the brand Creatures of Comfort.
“bless everyone who is pretty enough, skinny enough, and rich enough to wear this dress,” she wrote.
In fairness, this dress would suit approximately 1% of women, right?
The dress retails for $450 and is described on the website as:
The Creatures of Comfort Sequoia Dress is a partial button up dress with a drop shoulder and gathered sleeve. Cut from midweight, Japanese weathercloth with a crisp, cool hand in army green.
$450 for a dress that the woman in American Gothic would think is dowdy.
Following Shafrir’s tweet, the internet pounced on the dress.
And, oh, was it enjoyable.
It’s called tuberculosis chic, okay?
Anyone getting Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt vibes?
$450 to look like you’re living in a dystopian nightmare.
Er, we’ll pass.
At least it inspired some excellent puns, eh?
Not a total dead loss.
