Union Jack flies across from Government buildings as the Queen touches down

The view from Leinster House shows the Union Jack flying next to the Tricolour to welcome Queen Elizabeth II.

THE QUEEN HAS landed right on time at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnel to begin her historic four day visit in the Republic of Ireland. A plane carrying Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip and their entourage arrived almost exactly at noon.

The Union Jack has been hoisted next to the tricolour on the street opposite government buildings today. The Queen will visit Leinster House during the course of her trip.

Today she will travel from Baldonnel to Áras an Uachtaráin to be welcomed by President Mary Mc Aleese. Her other visits today include a wreath laying ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance, before viewing the Book of Kells at Trinity College.

Touchdown, and she’s wearing a fetching shade of green
