IF THERE’S ONE thing we all know to be true, it’s that the popular music round in University Challenge is the greatest
It’s a chance for us normal folk to shine and feel superior to the brainboxes on telly. “Oh, you thought you were so great when you could name the 16th century philosopher who pioneered the School of Deep Thought, didn’t you? At least I can tell the difference between Oasis and Pulp.”
Last night, Oriel College, Oxford, were played three songs as part of the popular music round… and completely failed to identify any of them.

Modest Mouse? THAT’S THE CURE, LADS.
People weren’t at all impressed.
Although it was admittedly quite amusing.
Even Paxman couldn’t keep it together.
