US police rescue woman from jaws of pet python

…and then issue her a warning over keeping such a dangerous pet.

A POLICE OFFICER IN LYONS, Kansas, rescued a woman from her eight-foot pet albino python by prising the reptile’s jaws open with his bare hands.

Officer Max Bryant is to receive special recognition for his bravery from the  Lyons City Council, Reuters reports.

The snake bit into Chrystal Wilson’s neck when she took it out of its cage for feeding last week, and a child in the house called the police.

After rescuing her, police issued a midemeanour citation to Wilson for keeping an animal which poses a danger to children. The snake has since been taken in by Wilson’s friend – who does not have children.

Wilson was treated for scratches to her neck, but was otherwise unharmed in the attack.
