The fashion label Valentino has issued an apology after using an image of Amy Adams at Philip Seymour Hoffman’s funeral to promote a handbag.

A PR email was sent out to journalists and bloggers which read:

We are pleased to announce Amy Adams carrying the Valentino Garavany Rockstud Duble bag from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection on Feb. 6 in New York.

A statement was released a short time afterwards apologising for the gaffe and explaining that the label was not aware that the photo had been taken at a funeral.
