(Video) Christmas Day at the movies: The History of Ireland
WE HOPE YOU have been enjoying our Friday at the Movies series of award-winning Irish short films over the past few months.
For the day that’s in it, we decided to give you an opt-out clause from the feature-length epics on the TV today and present you with a special short.
This one is from one of Ireland’s most successful animation companies, Brown Bag Films. Twice Oscar-nominated, the company just this week announced that a series they made for pre-schoolers will air on the Disney Junior channel in over 150 countries.
This Irish Film Board-funded short of theirs is from 2008 but this time of year, it seems only natural to reflect on the history of our country. What better way to do that than by listening to the wise words of Ding Dong Denny as he recounts his own version of events…
