VIDEO: Retired lab chimps get to go outside for the first time ever
RETIREMENT USUALLY MEANS a card and a nice watch from your colleagues – but these lab chimps got something slightly better.
The US government said at the start of this year that it would free all but fifty of all the chimpanzees being used for government research and send them to a sanctuary.
This video shows some of the chimps at a place called Chimp Haven (yes, really) in Louisiana as many of them who had never even left the lab got to experience the outside for the very first time. Some of the chimpanzees are more than 50 years old.
