WHICH NEW MOVIE release is worth the price of a cinema ticket this weekend?
We’re here to help you decide just that, with these trailers.
The Heat
(Fresh Movie Trailers/YouTube)
For fans of: Comedy, duos, police
Avoid if: You preferred Miss Congeniality
Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock are forced to work together after Bullock proves that she’s utterly terrible at working with people. McCarthy, meanwhile, is an aggressive force to be reckoned with and – naturally – loosens her new partner up somewhat. Directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids), it’s great to see a film team two women up as cops, but we wonder if it will rely too heavily on stereotypes.

Red 2
(movieclipstrailers/YouTube)
For fans of: BRUCE, action, laughs
Avoid if: A film with this many celebs in it makes you feel queasy
What do you get when you team up Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Dame Helen Mirren, Anthony Hopkins, and Catherine Zeta Jones for the making of a sequel based on a Warren Ellis/Cully Hammer comic book series? This mix of over-the-top humour, unbelievable action and as many cameos as you can imagine. We’re on the fence.

The Conjuring
(WarnerBRosPictures/YouTube)
For fans of: Ghosts, the 1970s, Vera Farmiga
Avoid if: You’re a scaredy-cat
I probably won’t go see this as I’m a complete scaredy-cat, but it looks like a pretty great ghost story, for those who want to watch such a thing. A husband and wife, Ed and Lorraine Warren, purportedly a real-life pair of paranormal investigators, help a family who are being terrorised by unknown evil spirits. This turns out to be a case the Warrens will never forget. For bad reasons, naturally.
