Vince Vaughn confirmed to join Colin Farrell in season 2 of True Detective

… and more details about their characters have been revealed.

HBO HAVE CONFIRMED that Vince Vaughn will star alongside Colin Farrell in the second season of crime drama True Detective.

The network have announced that the season will have eight hour-long episodes and is set to begin production later this fall in California.

Nic Pizzolatto, writer and creator of season one, is sticking around to work his magic. The Fast and the Furious director Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes.

Colin will play Ray Velcoro, who is described as ‘a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him’.

Vince will play Frank Semyon, ‘a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner’.

Little else is known about the plot, but Time reports that it will likely revolve around the murder of a corrupt businessman, when his body is discovered right before a major transportation deal.

Farrell told the Sunday World that he’s not even sure what to expect.

I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.

Rosario Dawson, Rachel McAdams and Elizabeth Moss are rumoured to be in talks for the female roles, but HBO say they will release more cast details as they are confirmed.
