WATCH: 850 people set a new world record as 'human mattresses'

Hundreds of people in New Orleans were tied to mattresses and knocked over to break the world record for the longest chain.

THERE’S PLENTY of strife in the world these days, and New Orleans has had more to worry about than most in the last few years.

It’s difficult to begrudge the people of the Big Easy, therefore, when they get together to break one of the world’s more bizarre world records: the record for the longest chain of human mattresses’.

A group of mattress suppliers supplied 850 mattresses for the attempt, which hoped to beat the previous record of 550 people set in Belgium last year. The mattresses will now be donated to local charities.

Incidentally, the record for human dominoes (without mattresses) is some 10,267 people – who took part in an effort at a fair in China in August 2010.
