ONE OF KILDARE’S favourite sons, Christy Moore, was a surprise guest on his home turf when he joined Coldplay to perform ‘Ride On’ on the final night of Oxegen 2011.
The Newbridge native had never managed to play at the festival – held annually at Punchestown since 2003 – before last night, a record that Coldplay offered to help address during their headline set on the main stage.
Martin introduced Moore as being ‘a hero of ours’, and drummer Will Champion has also previously described the Kildare troubadour as “just amazing”.
Watch as Moore joins Coldplay – and as the majority of the 60,000-strong crowd lend a hand on backing vocals.
