WATCH: Friday at the movies
EVERY FRIDAY AFTERNOON,TheJournal.ie presents an award-winning short film for you to enjoy as you ease into the weekend…
This week: Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom
Yu Ming is Ainm Dom was the breakout short film by Daniel O’Hara, who has gone on to direct major dramas like Inspector George Gently, Skins and Being Human. A young man who is bored of his life in China spins the globe in search of adventure. By chance his finger lands on Ireland and he decides to follow fate westward. The only problem is what his guide book tells him: the official language is Irish.
This perfectly judged Filmbase/TG4 Lasair funded film was a massive hit around the world notably winning at the prestigious Aspen Short Film Festival. For more on the Lasair scheme, which supports the production of short films in the Irish language, click here.
