This Waterford couple got engaged live on radio after spending over 30 years apart
WLR WLR
BACK IN THE 1976, two teenagers fell in love while working in a shoe shop in London.
Robert Speroni met Waterford native Jackie Kissane when he was 16 years old and the pair started dating.
But when Jackie’s parents decided to move back to Ireland, the pair broke up and lost touch. In fact, they lost touch for over thirty years.
Fast forward to a few years ago when the pair found each other on Facebook and decided to rekindle the flame. As Rob told WLR’s Big Breakfast Blaa:
Rob has now been in Waterford for five years and the pair have a house together. D’aww.
Yesterday, the happy couple appeared on WLR FM’s Big Breakfast Blaa under the pretense that they were going to discuss driving tests. (Rob works as a driving instructor, you see.)
But Rob had something else up his sleeve and decided to propose to his beloved live on air.
And she said yes!

Time to get in touch with that person you shifted in Irish college, perhaps?
