WAYNE ROONEY slept with a £1,000-a-night prostitute seven times in the four months before his wife Coleen gave birth to their son, it is reported today.

The UK’s Sunday Mirror says that the Manchester United and England striker regularly paid for sex with Jennifer Thompson, 21, and even brought her on dates to plush clubs and a casino in Manchester.

The paper says that Rooney can expect to lose sponsorship deals worth up to £6m (€7.2m) as a result of the affair.

It quotes Thompson as telling it that Rooney – currently on a barren spell in front of goal, having scored just once since March – sent her “SIM cards full of text messages and spoke to me on Skype using a false name.

“Whenever we met for sex, it was always in the same hotel.”

The Sunday Mirror’s news editor, James Saville, faced significant ire from users on Twitter as the story broke, with many pointing out the irony of Saville having an image of his child as his profile image when the story published by his paper may wrecked someone else’s.

He added on Twitter that, unlike other footballers who currently have ‘super-injunctions’ pending on stories relating to them, “Rooney did not try to injunct story. After public grovel last time, he has no choice but to face the music.”

Saville smugly posted, however, that after the last time the paper had revealed visits to prostitutes – in a story published in 2004 – Rooney had scored a hat-trick in his next game.

Rooney, who is currently on international duty with England, trained as normal this morning.
