Viewers told US weather reporter Katie Fehlinger that she looked ‘disgusting’ on TV. She was hardly going to let that slide, was she?

A US WEATHER reporter has hit back at viewers who compared her pregnant body to a “sausage in casing”.

Katie Fehlinger is 35 weeks pregnant with twin girls, and has been working throughout her pregnancy - which unfortunately has attracted some criticism from viewers.

Fehlinger says she’s been called a “sausage in casing” and told that “sticking [her] pregnant abdomen out like that is disgusting”.

She told Yahoo! Parenting that she bore most of the comments in silence, but at being told she looked “disgusting” a switch flipped.

She penned a long Facebook post in response, writing: ”Everyone’s right to their opinion is important, but so are manners.”

A message for the haters... Hey guys! Once ... Facebook / Katie Fehlinger Facebook / Katie Fehlinger / Katie Fehlinger

Frankly, I don’t care how ‘terrible’ or ‘inappropriate’ anyone thinks I look. I will gladly gain 50 pounds and suffer sleepless, uncomfortable nights if it means upping my chances to deliver two healthy baby girls. Now it’s about more than aesthetics. I want these babies to have the best start possible. And that hopefully means my belly that “looks like it’s about to explode” will continue to grow the next few weeks.

“For those of you who think that’s ‘disgusting’, remember a woman went through the very same to bring YOU into the world,” she continued.

YES. Fehlinger’s pregnant followers have been sharing pictures of their own bumps with her in solidarity:
