Terry Wogan is back on telly... and 4 other weekend TV highlights
ARE YOU READY for the weekend? I SAID, ARE YOU READY FOR THE WEEKEND???
Oh sorry, I didn’t hear you the first time.
Yes friends, it’s the weekend again, and therefore it is time to talk telly highlights.
No matter what you’re up to, we have a suggestion for some selected viewing, starting with:
If you’re at home with the kids… Children in Need (Fri, 19:30, BBC1/BBC2)
BBC BBC
Yes, it’s very much targeted at the UK, but the annual charity telethon is always entertaining. If you’re into Doctor Who you’ll get a snippet of the anniversary episode and there are lots of performances to enjoy.
Plus, Terry Wogan is doing it, so it’s bound to be good.
After the kids go to bed… Up in the Air (Fri, 23:10, BBC2)
George Clooney plays a guy who fires people for a living in this film which was nominated for loads of awards after its release in 2009.
It’s a good, grown-up movie and a perfect treat for after the kids have gone to bed.
If you fancy an afternoon couch snooze… Babe: Pig in the City (Sat, 14:25, RTE1)
Yes, you may only be out of bed a few hours, but sometimes a nice snooze on the couch is exactly what you need.
This is the perfect film to watch as you doze off, as it’s not intellectually challenging and you’ve probably seen it before but it’s still entertaining enough to keep you going for as long as you’re awake.
If you want to feel better about your failed ballet career… Black Swan (Sat, 21:00, C4)
Did you do ballet? Do you wish you did ballet? Were your dreams of being a ballet dancer crushed?
Eradicate all and any regret and sadness by watching Black Swan.
If you want to be updated for the watercooler… I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here (Sun, 21:00, UTV)
UTV UTV
Even if you’re not planning on watching the series, the first night is usually entertaining, as you watch the celebs get dropped into the jungle.
Who will be the biggest wimp? What new levels of awkward small talk will be reached? Who will cry? It’s all ahead of you, and anyway, you’ll want to be able to chat about it to the crew in work tomorrow.
