IT’S BEEN SIX YEARS since the last series of The West Wing aired, but time has done little to dent the enthusiasm with which Aaron Sorkin’s political drama is remembered.

Now the cast has been reunited – as part of an electoral stunt for one of its actress’s sisters.

Bridget Mary McCormack is running for election to the Supreme Court in Michigan (State Supreme Court justices are usually elected by the US public) – but would traditionally stand little hope of winning the seat given her status as a non-party candidate.

To try and remind people that there are non-partisan candidates in the election, McCormack got her sister Mary – who played Commander Kate Harper in the later series of the show – to round up her old on-screen colleagues for an information video.

The video hopes to remind voters in Michigan that the state’s non-partisan elections require voters to pick a named individual candidate – meaning that ticking a more traditional ‘vote for all Democrats’ or ‘I pick all the Republicans’ box won’t count for the Supreme Court race.

The nostalgia-invoking features most of the show’s major characters from its latter years – including Allison Janney, Joshua Malina, Richard Schiff and Janel Maloney, as well as Martin Sheen as somehow-still-the-president Jed Bartlet.
