Top of the Lake: China Girl (BBC 2, 9pm)

The second season of the highly acclaimed crime drama premieres tonight. This season sees Elisabeth Moss reprise her role as Detective Robin Griffin and investigate a muder she believes is connected to trafficked Asian sex workers. It also stars woman of the moment Nicole Kidman. Must-watch telly.

Foxcatcher (RTÉ 2, 9pm)

This Oscar-nominated film tells the story of the curious, destructive relationship between Olympic wrestlers Mark and Dave Schultz and reclusive millionaire John DuPont.

Prejudice and Pride: The People’s History of LGBTQ Britain (BBC Four, 9pm)

The first of a two-part series about the LGBTQ community in Britain fifty years after homosexuality was decriminalised once and for all.

Everyone’s talking about… True Detective

The third season of the crime anthology series has found its lead.

Oscar winner Mahershala Ali has been tapped to star in the next season. HBO’s president of programming Casey Bloys confirmed yesterday that series creator Nic Pizzolatto has submitted five scripts, which are “all terrific”.
