Picnic at Hanging Rock (RTÉ 2, 9.30pm)

A unmissable new series. Based on the 1967 novel of the same name, this series focuses on the events of Valentine’s Day 1900 at a school for young ladies in Australia, when students and staff go for a picnic, but not all of them arrive back. It stars Natalie Dormer, of Game of Thrones fame, as the mysterious headmistress.

Our Guy In Russia (Channel 4, 9.00pm)

Motorcycle racer and truck mechanic Guy Martin goes off on an exploration of the largest country on earth and gets into some unusual adventures. Starting in Moscow, he gets a lesson in Russian politics during a ride with biker bang the Night Wolves. Things only get weirder from there.

Nadiya’s Family Favourites (BBC TWO, 8.00pm)

Another new series to dive into now that it’s raining at night. Great British Bake Off Winner from 2015, Nadiya Hussain, demonstrates how to create delicious dishes to compliment any kind of day.

Everyone’s talking about: The World Cup is over and France are the winners

After yesterday’s high-scoring final, the World Cup is finished for another 4 years and France are the crowned champions of the football world.

Even Hillary Clinton is tweeting about it, and getting a sly wee dig in at Donald Trump.

  • Stonemouth (RTE ONE, 10.35pm) Drama focusing on a man exiled from his home, who returns after the apparent suicide of his best friend.
