What to watch on TV tonight: Wednesday

This is the telly everyone will be talking about.

Joy (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)

Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro star in this 2015 biopic about Joy Mangano, an entrepreneurial single mother who eventually went on to make millions after inventing the Miracle Mop. This movie tells the story of the adversity Joy (Jennifer Lawrence) faced on a professional front and within her family life while following her dreams to become an inventor.

White Famous (Sky Atlantic, 11.05pm)

New comedy series produced by Jamie Foxx starring Jay Pharoah, who plays a young African American comedian called Floyd Mooney. Floyd wants to maintain his credibility while becoming “white famous”. In tonight’s episode, Floyd is presented with a potential opportunity from his agent, but finds that it comes with a catch. Based on the personal experiences of Jamie Foxx.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Sky One, 9pm)

2005 British-American sci-fi comedy based upon the Douglas Adams franchise. Seconds before Earth is set to be destroyed by an alien construction crew, a pretty average guy called Arthur Dent is swept off the planet by his friend who turns out to be an alien. Arthur’s alien pal provides him with a handy travel guide to help him navigate the universe.

Everybody’s talking about…. The return of Ex On The Beach.

 

As always, the lineup consists of Instagram models, reality TV stars and socialites who will act surprised when they see their exes on a beach on a TV show that they willingly applied to called ‘Ex On The Beach’.

  • Animals Behaving Badly (BBC One, 8pm) Liz Bonnin meets the animal rogues doing whatever it takes to find food. From kleptomaniac crabs to tigers deceiving their prey.
  • Long Lost Family: What Happened Next (3, 9pm) Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell revisit some of the families that have been reunited over the last 6 years.
  • You Should Really See a Doctor (RTÉ One, 8.30pm) Dr Pixie McKenna and Dr Phil Kiernan return with their medical pop up clinic.
