What to watch on TV tonight: Sunday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline later.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow

The 87th Academy Awards E! Red Carpet (E!, 10.30pm)

Prepare for the inevitable social media commentary when the E! red carpet begins tonight. The ceremony really isn’t the same without it, and the Oscars and the creme-de-la-creme of all red carpets. Expect awkward questions, sparkly frocks, mani cams, glam cams, and the brand new but equally ground-breaking clutch cam. You might even try our drinking game if you’re planning to be in it for the long haul.

The 87th Annual Academy Awards (Sky Oscars, 1am)

So technically it’s tomorrow, but anyone with Monday off will want to be staying up to see who’ll get the gongs, and who’ll flash their most disgusted loser-face. Will someone fall going on stage? Will they order pizza again? What can possibly happen to beat lasy year’s selfie? All the action kicks off at 1am Irish time, and here’s how you can tune in.

The Meaning of Life with Gay Byrne (RTÉ 1, 10.30pm)

The guest on Gay Byrne’s spiritual show this week is Charles Spencer, brother of Princess Diana. The 9th Earl Spencer will be chatting about Diana’s death in 1997, as well as their difficult childhood together.

Everyone’s talking about… Orange is the New Black ditching Larry

Jason Biggs’ rep has confirmed that he will not be appearing in season 3 of Netflix drama Orange is the New Black. Biggs told the New York Daily News:

They’re not focusing on Larry at the moment. Larry will not be in Season 3. But there’s always a possibility he can come back.

Biggs played Larry Bloom, Piper’s ex-fiance. The pair split last season when Piper got back with her ex Alex Vause while in prison, and Larry had an affair with Piper’s best friend Polly.

Fans are less than disappointed with the news. He wasn’t a fan favourite.

Or flick over for…

The Voice of Ireland (RTÉ 1, 6.30pm) Let the battles commence.

Room to Improve (RTÉ 1, 9.30pm) It won’t be as cute as last weeks, but it’ll be worth a shot. Dermot is tasked with marrying 70s chic with modern design.

Peaky Blinders (RTÉ 2, 9.55pm) Crime drama set in 1919 Birmingham.

Moonrise Kingdom (Channel 4, 11.05pm) Two 12-year-olds fall in love and run away together. One of Wes Anderson’s best.
