What to watch on TV tonight: Friday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline later.

EVERY WEEKDAY lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice (BBC 2, 9pm)

Look, it was only a matter of time before the BBC started cashing in on GBBO even more, and are we complaining? HECK NO! Jo Brand presents this Bake Off spin off, with celeb guests, unseen footage, and some cutaways of Paul Hollywood eating cream suggestively, God willing. #GBBO

Sweets Made Simple (BBC 2, 8.30pm)

As if An Extra Slice wasn’t enough to make you ravenous enough to order an entire Dominos meal just so you can get the cookies (What?! We’ve never done that!) there’s a programme about making homemade sweets on just before it. This week it’s salted seashell caramels and gin and lime truffles.  #SweetsMadeSimple

Million Pound Drop (Channel 4, 8pm)

Jonathan Ross and his wife and kids are taking one for the team (well, for charity) in this episode. The nerves. #MillionPoundDrop

Everybody’s talking about… #True Detective

There are allegations afoot that True Detective writer Nic Pizzolatto plagiarised some of the work of horror writer Thomas Ligotti.

According to Vox.com some Ligotti experts have said that they believe there’s “something more than just influence” going on, pointing out similarities in several lines like:

TD: We became too self-aware. Nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist by natural law.
Ligotti: We know that nature has veered into the supernatural by fabricating a creature that cannot andshould not exist by natural law, and yet does.

Pizzolatto has denied the accusations.

Meanwhile Vince Vaughn is the latest name to be thrown into the possible casting pot for season two, alongside Colin Farrell and Mad Men and West Wing star Elisabeth Moss.
