What to watch on TV tonight: Monday

Here’s what’ll be on your Twitter timeline this evening.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Independents’ Day (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)

Worth a go for the name alone, this documentary sees Sunday Business Post journalist Pat Leahy examining the role Independent TDs could have in the Dáil after the next election, and their role so far in putting the frighteners up Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil. #IndependentsDay

True Detective (Sky Atlantic, 9pm)

The second episode of the new series draws the characters closer together, digs into the guts of the case, and ends with a bang. #TrueDetective

Salt – Are You Eating Too Much? (Channel 4, 8pm)

WELL? ARE YOU? Channel 4′s Dispatches team are taking a look at labelling inaccuracies, the impact of salt on children’s health, and the cost of tackling the problem. The show is followed by Superfoods: The Real Story at 8.30pm, if you really want to go for it, grub wise. #Dispatches

Everybody’s talking about… The #TopGear end credits

Last night finally saw the end of the Jeremy Clarkson Top Gear era on the BBC. Of course, Clarkson hasn’t died. No, he was fired after crossing the line just one too many times.

The end credits of last night’s farewell show were determined to give him a fitting mourning though:

Or switch over for…

  • Jean Kennedy Smith: Living in the Shadow of JFK (RTÉ One, 10.35pm) The former US Ambassador to Ireland and JFK’s sister talks about growing up in a dynasty
  • Wimbledon 2Day (BBC 2, 8.30pm) There’s actually tennis on BBC 2 all day long starting at 11.30am, but Clare Balding will be serving up (sorry) the highlights in a handy one hour package at half eight
  • Whiskey Business (TV3, 8.30pm) It’s the last in the series and will the Teelings brothers be able to open the distillery on time?
  • Music and Lyrics (TG4, 9.30pm) Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore in a romantic comedy? Sure you’d have to
