COLM CUFFE IS a teacher from Galway who also happens to be an excellent cartoonist.
He keeps a weekly comic strip on his Facebook page, the excellent When’s It Hometime?
It sums up life in the classroom to a T, and teachers starting back this week will recognise these situations all too well.
You pretty much have the opposite stance to parents about the arrival of a new school year
You feel personally victimised by the amount of back to school ads on telly
Then there’s all the chances you have of seeing the kids outside school
It’s like you’re a celebrity. A really shit celebrity.
Summer holidays never work out like you plan though
WHAT REST?
The kids definitely think you’re just sitting in your classroom alone
There are just constant reminders around you, August is like one big Sunday evening
But at least you have all those mugs from June to fill with coffee
You should all appreciate this feeling of starting afresh, while it lasts
Because this year is going to be a busy one
Follow the When’s It Hometime? Facebook page for more comics.
