LAST WEEK, CADBURY announced an exciting new development with Easter favourite the Creme Egg.
Special white chocolate eggs are being hidden amongst the regular Creme Eggs in shops – and if you find one, you’ll win a cash prize of anything from €100 to €1000.
Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory come to life! But maybe Cadbury didn’t fully consider the ramifications of their decision.
Displays of Creme Eggs are being ransacked by customers in search of the elusive white egg - DailyEdge.ie spotted some serious carnage in a shop in Dublin earlier today:
Similar scenes have been witnessed all around the UK and Ireland, with shoppers unwrapping Creme Eggs only to cast them aside when they find no treasure within.
They say that even shop staff are at it. The savagery knows no bounds.
(All of this could have been easily avoided if people just looked at the ingredients first. Seriously.)
The more cynical among us might be inclined to believe that there are no white chocolate eggs at all, but today, the first one was found by a nursery manager from the UK.
She’ll collect a cool £1000 for her efforts, and told The Sun:
I’d been talking to my assistant about the hunt before going to the shops. I didn’t think it would happen to me.
So it can be done. We’ll see you in the trenches – I mean, the supermarkets.
