ANGELINA JOLIE HAS been named the highest earning actress in Hollywood, with an estimated $33 million banked in the last 12 months.

The actress has been lying low this year after she opted to undergo a double mastectomy having found out she is a carrier of a mutated BRCA1 gene that increased her risk of developing breast cancer by 87%.

Jolie is clearly still in demand in Hollywood, with her earnings up $13 million from last year. Her latest movie, a retelling of Sleeping Beauty called ‘Maleficent’, is due in cinemas later this year. However, she still hasn’t quite matched the salary of highest paid actor Robert Downey, who earned an estimated $75 million in the same period.

Jennifer Lawrence comes in second place on the list compiled by Forbes magazine. Despite being the highest earning actress under 30 due to an Oscar-winning role Silver Linings Playbook and The Hunger Games franchise, she still falls $9 million short of the top place.

Last year’s number one Kristen Stewart has fallen to third place with earnings of $22 million, largely due to her cash cow Twilight series concluding in September.

Friends star Jennifer Aniston is a regular on the list, holding a respectable fourth place, with $20 million banked this year. Young actress Emma Stone is on her tail with an estimated $16 million earned in the last 6 months due to roles in blockbusters such as Spiderman and Gangster Squad.

Here’s the complete top ten:

  1. Angelina Jolie – $33m
  2. Jennifer Lawrence – $26m
  3. Kristen Stewart – $22m
  4. Jennifer Aniston – $20m
  5. Emma Stone – $16m
  6. Charlize Theron – $15m
  7. Sandra Bullock – $14m
  8. Natalie Portman – $14m
  9. Mila Kunis – $11m
  10. Julia Roberts – $11m
