Why I Love... Urban Decay's 'Moon Dust' palette

The Moon Dust palette is perfect for festival season.

IT’S SAFE TO say that I probably own more Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes than is healthy for someone who doesn’t wear make up apart from special occasions. The obsession began long ago when I realised that spending €45 on eyeshadows was actually ok to do once in a while.

However, there is a special place in my heart for the Moon Dust palette. I’m not very good at make up and this becomes really obvious when I’m at a festival. I am yet to master the technique of proper wings, let alone how to get glitter to behave on my face.

So you can understand my delight when I realised that the ‘Moon Dust’ palette was here to sort out all my festival-related problems. Essentially ‘Moon Dust’ is a very nice combination of glitter and eyeshadow and once you can control it, it tends to make you look like a fairy goddess.

It doesn’t come with a brush but does advise you to wet your finger and then applying it and from personal experience, this works very well even if it does feel weird. The pigment comes out much stronger and goes on very easily.

The best shade is easily ‘Lithium’ but a special shoutout goes to ‘Galaxy’ which looks dark but upon application has lovely tints of green. I also love ‘Magnetic’ because getting a decent shade of purple that actually stays on is something I find incredibly difficult.

I love this palette because it adds the extra sparkle into any look without being too in your face about it. Festival looks are incredible but for the average night out, they can be a lot of effort to do and pull over. This palette allows you to sparkle and halves the effort you need to put it which for a lazy make up lover like myself is the definition of bliss.

These colours last forever but the only drawback is that you do need to apply a lot of them for them to shine through which means that they do get used quickly. That’s fine if you’re just using it for a festival but for more everyday use, a longer lasting palette would be recommended.

If you want to pick it up, you can get it in Debenhams where it’s normally priced at €44.
