Royal baby: William and Kate are having a baby
THE DUKE AND Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and his wife Kate, are expecting a baby, it has been announced.
St James’s Palace has confirmed the news and says that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate, has a severe form of morning sickness which means she is currently in a London hospital.
In a statement, the Palace said: ”The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (severe morning sickness).
“As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.”
The Royal Family are, quite predictably, described as being “delighted” by the news of the baby.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news,” the statement went on.
British Prime Minister David Cameron was the first big name to rush in and congratulate the pair (not literally we hope), saying on Twitter: “I’m delighted by the news that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a baby. They will make wonderful parents.”
The baby will be be the third in line to the British throne currently occupied by Queen Elizabeth.
Recent changes to the law by the current government mean that the child, whether a boy or a girl, will be next in line after William himself and before him, his father Prince Charles.
William, the son Charles and the late Princess Diana, married the former Kate Middleton in April 2011.
Ever since then there has been intense speculation as to whether or not the Duchess is pregnant. Now it turns out she is.
