RTÉ have announced a new gameshow to replace Winning Streak

Bye-bye Marty Whelan. Hello Nicky Byrne.

RTÉ HAVE ANNOUNCED details of a new show to replace Winning Streak on Saturday evenings.

The show – to be called The Million Euro Challenge – will feature “thrilling” new games and be hosted by Nicky Byrne, the 2FM presenter and former Westlifer.

On each episode three players, each accompanied by a friend or family member, will play Lottery games. One will get the chance to play for €1million.

The games include:

Crack the Code’ (where cracking a 4-digit code means the safe gets opened and the player wins cash), ’Risky Business’ (where the players compete against each other to win as much money as possible), and the finale game, ‘The Million Euro Challenge’.

It was reported earlier this month that Winning Streak would be moved to a summer slot, with Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy continuing as presenters when it returns.

It had previously run over the winter.

As with Winning Streak, players will enter The Million Euro Challenge by buying scratchcards.

Nicky Byrne said he was “really excited” to present the show, adding: “I’ve been working with The Million Euro Challenge team learning all about the new games and I think the format of the show is brilliant.”
