ALL WE SHALL say is this: Let those who have never drifted off in a taxi cast the first stone.
Londoner Hannah Warman was at a party at a friend’s house last night and, seeing as the night was getting on, decided to get a taxi home.
“She only lives a 5-10 minute walk from my home, but I had had a bit too much to drink and called an Uber,” Warman told Metro.
Then, I must’ve fallen asleep in the car. I woke up a couple of times and said “Why is this taking so long?”… I think I assumed he’d gotten a bit lost or something but I had no idea it’d been an hour and a half.
Warman only realised what happened the next day, when she awoke to find a receipt for an £85 Uber journey in her emails.
The receipt also showed the exact route the driver had taken – 56 kilometres out of her way:
A nice relaxed drive of an evening, no?
After “a lot of emails”, the company refunded her the majority of the fee, but Warman says she doesn’t trust them any more.
A spokesperson for Uber said the company would be speaking to the driver and Warman to find out exactly what happened.
The lesson is: Just don’t go home. Stay at the party. Stay all night if you have to.
