A WOMAN HAD a lucky escape after accidentally throwing her wedding and engagement rings out with the rubbish - then digging through an entire truckload of household waste to find them again.
Deb Kirby, from Attleboro in Massachusetts, said she took the rings – along with three others – off to dry them after washing her hands. She wrapped them in a paper towel – but then got distracted and threw them in the bin, she told the Sun Chronicle.
She put out the rubbish, which was picked up by local firm Waste Management on May 8. Then Kirby realised what she’d done.

Distraught, she called Waste Management. The company had the truck that picked up her garbage unload at a transfer station.
Helped by waste workers, Kirby searched the mountain of household waste for the rings, which she knew were in a black bag with a blue drawstring.
It took 30 minutes of looking, but the rings were found.
Kirby said she was “extremely grateful and so very impressed” by Waste Management.
