A woman was caught on camera stubbing out her cigarette on a reporter's face

Charming!

IT REALLY IS a joy to work with the public. Just ask Australian journalist Alex Bernhardt.

She was trying to get an interview with the friend of an accused murderer outside a court in Queensland – as Bernhardt approached her, the woman turned and stubbed her cigarette out on her face.

Unluckily for her, the whole thing was caught on camera:

Bernhardt told the Daily Mail that she didn’t want to “blow the attack out of proportion”, but the woman has since been charged with public nuisance.

She’ll appear in court on July 23.

[The cigarette] left a bit of a red mark… It’s gone now. It certainly wasn’t something I was expecting when you’re doing your job.

This isn’t the first time Bernhardt has been attacked by a potential interview subject - last year, a man threw a bucket of water at her as she attempted to question him:
