Worst in Show: Some seriously mutt-ugly dogs
THEY ARE DEFINITELY not Best in Show – but these mutt-ugly dogs probably weren’t expecting to end up in their own film because of their looks.
Two US film-makers have recorded a documentary centred around the Ugliest Dog in the World contest in Petaluma, California where for the past 23 years devoted dog owners have put forward their pooches for the title of the world’s ugliest… well, you get the idea. Directors John Beck and Don R Lewis followed the dogs and their masters/mistresses for a year as they prepared for the ultimate prize on the ugly-dog circuit in 2010.
The blurb for Worst in Show describes it as “a mix between the mockumentary ‘Best in Show’ and the outstanding documentary ‘King of Kong’”. It has won several ‘Best Doc’ awards at film festivals and here’s why:
