Would You Get A Second Date If You Went On First Dates?

Well, let’s find out.

first d ates

1. Do you have any strong feelings about who should pay on a first date?
RTÉ
Yep! The guy pays. It's old-fashioned, but it's good manners.
I don't care, I'd rather just split the bill.
2. Do you think you instantly need to be attracted to someone for things to work out?
RTÉ
Yeah, of course.
Not really. Sometimes, the right person is someone you've been friends with for a while and never even considered to be a romantic option.

Nah, I think personality matters way more.
Personality is important, but it can't make up for some things...
3. So... The date didn't go awfully wrong, but you're certain you wouldn't want a romantic relationship with the person you got matched up with. They bring you back stage and ask the question: "Would you like to see each other again?" What's your plan?
RTÉ
I'm going to get my answer in there first, so that they don't make a fool of themselves by saying they'd like to see me again.
I'm fairly sure I'd be able to read them and guess if their answer was a no. In that case, I'd let them go first, just to save myself.

I'll suggest that we both count to three and say our answers at the same time. That'll take the sting out of it.
4. Do you have even the *tiniest* crush on any of the First Dates restaurant staff?
RTÉ
Yeah, I'll admit it.
Nah, none of them are my type really.
5. Is there any chance, at all, that you would tell your date they had a "nice hoop"?
RTÉ
No way.
Yeah, it would be funny and it's just a cheeky little compliment.
6. Do you think it's important to talk about politics on a first date?
RTÉ
No way. That's too boring/serious. I just want to have a laugh and get to know someone, I don't care who they vote for.
Yes, it'd probably be one of the first things that came up in conversation. I don't think I'd be compatible with someone who didn't agree with my political opinions.
7. Do you have an emotional backstory? Recent breakup? Near-death experience? A bereavement in your childhood? Have you beat some ridiculous odds?
RTÉ
Nah, I've thankfully lived a fairly quiet life.
Yeah, unfortunately.
8. Drinking on a date is:
RTÉ
Absolutely necessary. You need it to loosen up and get the conversation going.
Fun. I'll usually have a drink or two. I never go overboard though, don't want to make a fool of myself.

Not happening. I don't drink.
Very bad. I usually try to drink my nerves away and end up getting hammered.
9. Do you have any kind of aversion to Coppers?
RTÉ
Yes. I hate Coppers. It's the last place in the world I'd ever want to visit.
I don't like Coppers, but it's an experience isn't it? Gives you something to talk about for a few days afterwards.

Nooo. I love Coppers.
I've never been to Coppers, but I'd be up for trying it out.
10. Are you a picky eater?
RTÉ
Yep. I'd probably end up ordering from the kids menu.
Nah, I'd probably manage with a regular menu.
