Galway-native, Brendan Murray, heads straight to Judges' House after earning The X Factor Golden Buzzer

‘What a voice.’

BRENDAN MURRAY, A native of Galway, sailed straight through to Judges’ House on last night’s X Factor after a particularly powerful performance of REM’s Everybody Hurts.

Playing to the strengths of his distinct voice, the 21-year-old plumber, who represented Ireland in last year’s Eurovision, delivered a performance that left his fellow contestants looking fairly edgy, if we’re all being honest here.

With the audience on their feet as Brendan brought the performance to a close, Simon Cowell handed down his verdict.

Brendan, in my opinion you are in a completely different league to everyone else we’ve seen so far. And you know what’s so charming about you? You don’t even know how good you are.

And then Louis Tomlinson took things one step further by awarding Brendan the Golden Buzzer.

Cue shrieks, fireworks and one very awkward high-five between Louis and Simon.

Being awarded the Golden Buzzer means that the 21-year-old skips the Six Seat Challenge and hightails it, instead, straight to the home of a judge, ultimately moving ever closer to the live shows.

Brendan took to Twitter in the aftermath of his big moment to thank everyone for their support.

I’m a bit speechless at the minute. I’d like to thank my friends and family for all their kind messages and support. It means a lot. I want to thank X Factor. I want to thank Louis Tomlinson for putting me forward for Judges’ House. I’m just really excited to share this X Factor journey with everyone.

Oh, and if you missed the drama of last night’s episode, take a look at this.
