X Factor judge Tulisa faces probe over arm gesture
X FACTOR JUDGE and singer Tulisa could be banned from making her signature arm gesture at the start of each show amid suggestions she is illegally promoting her new perfume.
As she emerges on stage for each programme the N-Dubz singer displays her forearm across her chest, flashing a tattoo which says ‘The Female Boss’, the same name for her perfume brand which she launched recently.
Mail Online reports that the UK’s media regulator Ofcom is investigating whether by doing this Tulisa, whose full name is Tuilsa Contostavlos, is in breach of advertising regulations on promotion and reference to commercial products by talent during broadcasts.
A segment on the show’s spin off The Xtra Factor also made reference to the perfume and its connection to the signature move.
It is not the first time Ofcom has had to investigate events on the hugely popular talent show, the Guardian reports.
Last year year it investigated raunchy dance routines by Christina Aguilera and Rihanna that were broadcast prior to the 9pm watershed. The regulator deemed them to be “at the limit” of what is acceptable.
Ofcom is also currently looking into complaints about Rihanna’s appearance on the programme last weekend when she appeared to be wearing shoes with a swearword emblazoned on them.
