Yik Yak is the newest app to capture the attention of young people around the world – launched in 2013 in American colleges, it’s slowly made its way over here.

Users can send short, anonymous messages (or Yaks) to other people in the same area, who can respond or ‘vote up’ their Yaks.

Why do Irish people love it? It fits right into our passive aggressive, confrontation-averse, yet banter-loving nature, you see. Just look:
