Your very own island (in Fermanagh): yours for €740,000

You know those fantasies where you have your own desert island? Well, would an island on Lough Erne suffice?

WE’VE ALL HAD them: those fantasies about being some sort of mega-über-global-tycoon, being able to run off on a getaway to our private desert island to get away from it all.

Well, for those with slightly lesser ambitions – or perhaps those who are simply willing to settle – there’s an island up for sale in… County Fermanagh.

Around 500 yards offshore in Upper Lough Erne, a couple of kilometres away from Derrylin, Inisliroo Island is described by its auctioneers as “one of only 365 island” in the lake.

The island comes including planning permission for a family dwelling – in addition to the original family home already on site – and it’s got its own private jetty.

Included in the promotional blurb:

The Island had to fully provide for the Maguire family and as such every piece of it was utilised. After the Second World War the Island was famous for its fruit production. The Orchard provided much needed revenue and today it is still very much in tact.

Yours for a mere £600,000 (€740,000).
