YouTube gets 4 billion views every day

The company says it has experienced a massive 25 per cent surge in views in the past eight months.

YOUTUBE HAS A couple of reasons to celebrate today: not only is the company marking its sixth birthday but it has also confirmed that it now receives 4 billion views every day.

The number of views represent a huge increase of 25 per cent in just eight months, the website’s owner Google told Reuters today.

Last May 2011, YouTube revealed that about 48 hours of video was uploaded to the site every minute – that number has now risen to 60 hours of video every minute.

In May of the previous year, when the site reached a ‘mere’ 2 billion views per day, the company noted that its audience numbers nearly doubled the prime-time audience of all three major US television networks combined.

YouTube has announced that every second one hour of video is uploaded to the site… and, to help you visualise that, it has launched onehourpersecond.com.
