I mean, you really really should stay at home today if you can. We’re expecting a whole load more snow where that lot out your window came from.

If you’re staying inside, you might start to feel a bit cabin-feverish.

Never fear. Here are some suggestions to have a lil YOU day.

1. Dig out that fancy face mask you were holding off using and have a bath

Can’t get out to a spa? Bring the spa to you. You literally have the perfect excuse. If you don’t have any face masks to hand, check out our simple home remedies for a natural fix.

2. Read that book that’s been lying on your locker

Well there’s nothing on telly and social media is simply snow photos, so give that novel the time it deserves with the fanciest glass of wine or whiskey you have lying around. Hey, it’s not like you’re gonna be driving later?

3. Bake something delicious

There’s something about a snow day that makes me want to eat everything. It’s to generate heat, ok? If you stocked up on a good bit of milk, you’ll be surprised how much baking ingredients you have lying around the kitchen.

Try some of these simple recipes (that only require three ingredients) and enjoy the fruits of your labour after a busy afternoon in the snow.

4. Clean

WHAT? You scream. Cleaning is ridiculously therapeutic, and only annoying because you don’t have the time to do it and would rather be sitting around relaxing after a busy day.

Now is the perfect time to give the gaff a lil spring clean to your ideal soundtrack, because there’ll also be plenty of time to light some candles and sit around with a glass of vino later in the evening. This activity also feels a thousand times better in a freshly groomed room.

5. Do some yoga in front of the TV

‘Nicola, you are crazy’, I hear you cry. Get lost down a YouTube yoga hole, tell yourself you’re not being stupid, and come back to me to apologise when you’re completely addicted to the zen.

6. Talk to someone on the phone

You know how we never talk to each other on the phone anymore because the person at the other end might be busy or annoyed? Well, now you can be confident that it’s highly unlikely they’ll be doing anything but sitting at home.

Give an old friend you haven’t caught up with in a while a buzz, or better yet, an old relative or neighbour to keep them company and check in on them. It might seem a bit much at first, but you’ll feel so good after a good natter.

7. Take a guilt-free nap

Excuse me, I’m going for a nap. What else are you going to do? There’s something about settling in when it’s still bright out for an hour’s kip that feels so wrong yet so right.

You’ll wake up guilt free, relaxed, and ready to shift ass down to the sofa for dinner and telly. Bonus points if you change your bedsheets first.
